Remove the two old batteries and insert two new batteries with the (+)
positive ends up toward the cover as shown below.

Align the notches and then turn the cover 90 degrees
clockwise, but no
more than 90 degrees. Delicate force is required to seal the cover.

Repeat for the two batteries in the other battery bay.

How to Use the SM3BAT with External Power
With the optional external power cable, the power connector can safely accept
voltages from 5-17 volt DC and is intended for 6 or 12 volt external battery
systems.
CAUTION:
If you are unfamiliar with configuring external battery and power systems,
you might want to consult with a local installer for assistance.
