– Mount the 4-terminal Molex header (male) at the
Conn5
position on the right channel
speaker PWB. Solder in place.
– Mount the 4-terminal Molex header (male) at the
Conn5
position on the left channel
speaker PWB. Solder in place.
The completed PWB is shown in Figure 5.13. Note that not all component positions on the
boards are used.
– Place a self-adhesive vinyl pad on each of the four corners (approximately) of the two
speaker terminal PWBs (eight pieces in all). The pads are intended to make sure the
speaker PWBs do not make contact with the barrier strip mounting screws and to support
the board as connections are made.
If desired, a single light coat of acrylic conformal coating (MG Chemicals #419C-340G) may
be applied to the foil side of the speaker terminal PWBs.
5.5.11.3 Speaker PWB Connections
Because the right channel speaker PWB is rotated relative to the left channel board, speaker
connections will be made to the right channel prior to the board being soldered into position.
Note: When making connections to the speaker terminal PWBs, support the board as needed to
avoid stressing the PWB.
– Find the
black
common lead from the right channel output transformer. Connect the
terminal to the
T1com
post on the right channel speaker PWB.
– Find the
green
4 Ω lead from the right channel output transformer. Connect the terminal
to the
4ohm
post on the right channel speaker PWB.
– Find the
yellow
8 Ω lead from the right channel output transformer. Connect the terminal
to the
8ohm
post on the right channel speaker PWB.
– Find the
white
16 Ω lead from the right channel output transformer. Connect the terminal
to the
16ohm
post on the right channel speaker PWB.
– Insert the right channel speaker PWB over the right channel barrier strip posts. Orient the
board so the relay faces the center of the chassis.
