Remove/Replace Broken Modules
Use the following procedure to remove or
replace a module has been physically removed
from the premises without being removed
from the network or is broken. A broken
module is indicated by a red circle with a slash
over the module. A broken module will slow
down your network because the network will
try multiple times to reach the broken node
each time Houseport
®
polls the module or it is
used in a Scene or Zone.
Houseport
®
can either be in
Design
or
Control
operation. Houseport
®
must be set for
Design
operation mode to remove or replace a
module.
Design
operation is indicated when
the window is outlined in a yellow and black
construction tape border.
1. Select the broken module by clicking on it once
with the mouse.
2. Select
Delete
from the edit menu or press
the
Delete
key on the keyboard. If the selected
module is considered broken by the Z-Wave
®
network it will be removed from the network.
To replace a broken module in your Z-Wave
®
network follow these steps:
1. Make sure you are running Houseport
®
in
Design
operation.
2. Select the broken module by clicking on it once
with the mouse.
3. Select the
Replace Broken Module
item from
the Network menu.
4. If the selected module is considered broken
by the Z-Wave
®
network you will be prompted to
press the button on the module that will replace
the broken one.
After a few moments, the new replacement
module will be recognized by the Z-Wave
®
network and will operate normally.

Red Circle with Slash
indicates a broken module.
NoTe: You should remove modules from
the network, such as Christmas light
plug-in modules, before unplugging them
for a period of time. For best results, this
functionality should only be used in case
of actual module failure.
