Check that the third parameter is “A”. If it
is “V” then the GPS is indicating it does
not have a valid “fix”. Check the GPS
antenna and its connections.
No AIS targets
displayed
1. Check that the AIS receiver is wired
properly.
2. Check “I/O port settings” in setup mode.
Make sure the input port is set to “AIS”.
3. Are there ships nearby?
4. Wait a few minutes. AIS data is sent
periodically and it make take anywhere
from several seconds to several minutes for
data to be received.
5. If your AIS receiver has an indicator
LED to show AIS traffic, is it illuminated?
6. Follow the procedure described in the
Configuration and Installation section of
this document for examining the raw data
being received on the AIS port. You should
see sentences that look something like:
