Gray
Serial port 1 data out.
If you are connecting this port
to a computer, connect this wire to pin 2 on a female
DB9 connector. If you are connecting this port to a
transponder, chart plotter or other device, connect this
wire to the data input for your device. If your device
has NMEA+ or NMEA A inputs then use that wire.
Yellow
Serial port 2 ground.
Connect this wire in the same
manner as serial port 1 ground, described above.
Green
Serial port 2 data in.
Connect this wire in the same
manner as serial port 1 data in, described above.
White
Serial port 2 data out.
Connect this wire in the same
manner as serial port 1 data out, described above.
Orange
External alarm relay contact 1.
Whenever the alarm
is sounding, an internal relay switches two external
alarm connections together. These connections are
normally open (NO) and will be closed whenever the
internal alarm is sounding. You may use these
connections to light an indicator or provide an external
buzzer or alarm. The maximum switched current is 2
amps. Do not exceed this value or damage may occur
to the
AIS
WatchMate
and void your warranty
.
It is
recommended that you include a suitable fuse (max
2A) to protect against overload. If you wish to connect
a device which requires more than 2 amps then you
must use an external relay which should be purchased
separately. It is recommended to consult a qualified
marine electronics technician if you require assistance
setting up an external alarm.
