Cascaded Multipoint Conferences
Up to 4 participants (Chair + 3 others) at 384 Kbps, or 3 participants at 768 Kbps,
may be joined directly in a conference managed by the HD3000’s MCU. However,
the HD3000 may join up to 10 participants in a
Cascaded MCU
conference.
A
cascaded MCU
refers to another HD3000 that has joined two other participants,
in addition to the Chair which called it. In a 10-participant session, the Chair calls
three other HD3000 systems, each having joined two other participants.
The following figure shows a conference expanded to six participants by joining a
cascaded MCU. HD3000 A (Chair) has opened a conference with Participants #1,
#2 and #3. Participant #3 is HD3000 B, which has joined two other participants - #4
and #5, as well as being connected to HD3000 A. Therefore, cascading
HD3000 B’s MCU expanded the conference to five partic a Chair.
The video from HD3000 A is being transmitted to all the participants, and appears
as the main video display on all the systems. The only exception is HD3000 A,
whose own video appears in a PIP window on its monitor.
