9 Inspection
and
maintenance
9.1 Notes
for
maintenance
An annual inspection/maintenance of the unit by a spe-
cialist is a prerequisite for continuing operational safety,
reliability and a long working life.
d
Danger!
Inspection, maintenance and repair work
should only be undertaken by an ap-
proved heating installation company.
Inspections / Maintenance work not car-
ried out can result in damage to proper-
ty and personal injury.
Only genuine Vaillant spare parts may be used for in-
spections, maintenance and repair work to ensure the
perfect long-term working order of all functions of your
Vaillant appliance and to prevent the approved series
condition from being changed.
Any spare parts which might be required are listed in
the relevant current spare parts catalogues.
Information can be obtained from Vaillant Customer
Service Centres.
9.2
Carrying out the maintenance work
e
Danger!
Risk of fatal electric shock from touch-
ing live connections! Before commencing
work on the heat pump, disconnect the
power supply (circuit breaker) and se-
cure it against being switched on again
inadvertently.
The heat pump is engineered in such a way that only a
few maintenance works need to be carried out:
– Manually actuate the safety assemblies in the brine
and heating circuits at regular intervals.
– Check the dirt filter in the brine circuit regularly.
– Check the pressures in the brine and heating circuits
regularly.
– Anual check of pressure/temperature relief valveand
expansion relief valve.
• Manually operate each valve by twisting the operating
cap, and check if water flows unostructed via the
tundish to the discharge point.
• Ensure that both valves reseat stisfstorily.
– Anual check of pressure expansion vessel.
• Turn off mains water supply and open nearest hot
water tap to depressurise the secondary water sys-
tem.
• Check the expansion vessel charge with a pressure
gauge at the test point. If the pressure is below
3.0 bar, top up with a suitable air pressure pump.
9.3
Test operation and restarting
• Fit all the heat pump cladding sections as described in
Chap. 4.
• Start up the heat pump.
• Check the heat pump for correct functioning.
d
Danger!
Risk of injury!
The heat pump may only be put into op-
eration again after all the cladding sec-
tions have been fitted.
10 Troubleshooting

diagnosis

Error messages on the controller
Error messages appear on the display approximately
20 seconds after the error has occurred and are written
to the controller's error memory if the error is present
for approximately 3 minutes. You can call up the error
memory in Menu I1. As long as the fault is present, you
can call up the fault display by turning the left hand dial
1 x to the left, starting from the graphics display.

The geoTHERM control system recognises three differ-
ent types of malfunction:
– Malfunction of
components
that are connected via
the
eBUS
.
–
Temporary shut-down
The heat pump remains in operation. The error is dis-
played and disappears independently when the cause
of the fault is removed.
