5 OPERATING THE CENTERLINER
®
• Fertilizer granulars may attain high speeds leading to
injuries and damage of soft crops.
• Therefore: do not allow people or animals to approach a
spreader in operation within a radius of at least 30 m.
Reduce the spreading width for spreading over soft
crop!
• Stop the tractor engine before leaving the cab. Do not
allow anyone to come near the machine while the discs
are still rotating.
- If the spreader is newly commissioned: first carry out the
check and maintenance duties which are specified in “7.3
Intermittent maintenance” before starting the spreading
operation.

Operating the CENTERLINER

The effect of the wind on the spreading pattern is more
noticeable for larger than for smaller working widths. If it is
impossible to await a windless day, it is advisable not to
choose an overly large working width. Avoid working in
lateral wind as much as possible.
Because of the large overlap of the spreading patterns the
link-up is hardly critical. The spreading width is nearly twice
the working width. For working widths (up to approx. 21 m)

CENTERLINER spreader, the rule of thumb is that the
CENTERLINER spreader spreads roughly up to the
preceding track.
The following points should be observed when operating the
CENTERLINER spreader.
- When filling the hopper, ensure that the fertilizer is spread
evenly over the LH and RH hopper halves.
- Check in the field if the CENTERLINER spreader is at the
correct working height over the ground or crop level.
- If you are going to proceed to another kind of fertilizer or
to a fresh batch: check the spreading width (see “5.3 Check
of spreading width) and application rate (see ”5.4 Check of
output rate") at the beginning of the spreading operation.
