N ot e: Graphic labels (show n above) are used for CE
application only.
Im port ant :
•
Before servicing, disconnect all pow er sources and
allow at least 30 m inutes for capacitors to discharge.
•
All electrical enclosures—unit or rem ote—are IP2X.
Term inal clam ps are supplied w ith the m otor term inals to
accom m odate either bus bars or standard m otor term inal
w ire lugs. Term inal clam ps provide additional surface area
to m inim ize the possibility of im proper electrical
connections.
Wire Terminal Lugs
Wire term inal lugs m ust be field supplied.
•
Use field-provided, crim p-type w ire term inal lugs
properly sized for the application.
N ot e: Wire size ranges for the starter line and load-
side lugs are listed on the starter subm ittal
draw ings supplied by the starter m anufacturer
or Trane. Carefully review the subm itted w ire
lug sizes for com patibility w ith the conductor
sizes specified by the electrical engineer or
contractor.
•
On 600 V and below, a term inal clam p w ith a
9.525-m m (3/8-in.) bolt is provided on each m otor
term inal stud; use the factory-supplied Belleville
washers on the w ire lug connections.
Figure 32
illustrates the junction betw een a m otor term inal stud
and term inal lug.
•
Torque for this assem bly is 32.5 N·m (24 ft·lb).
•
Install but do not connect the pow er leads betw een the
starter and com pressor m otor. (These connections w ill
be com pleted under supervision of a qualified Trane
service engineer after the pre-start inspection.)
Bus Bars
Bus bars and extra nuts are available as a Trane option.
Install the bus bars betw een the m otor term inals w hen
using a starter that is:
•
a low-voltage AFD
•
across-the-line
•
prim ary reactor/resistor
•
auto transform er
•
custom er-supplied
NOTICE:
Use Copper Conductors Only!
Failure to use copper conductors could result in
equipment damage as unit terminals are not designed
to accept other types of conductors.
