Display Troubleshooting
This section describes how to determine if the computer's display is functioning properly.
Start with Procedure 1 and continue with the other procedures as instructed.

Procedure 1
External Monitor Check
Connect the external monitor to the computer's external monitor port, then boot the com-
puter. The computer automatically detects the external monitor even if Resume mode is
enabled.

If the external monitor works correctly, the internal LCD display may be damaged.
Go to Procedure 3.

If the external monitor appears to have the same problem as the internal LCD, the
display controller may be damaged. Go to Procedure 2.
Procedure 2
Diagnostic Test Program Execution Check
The Display Test program is stored on the computer's Diagnostic Disk. This program checks
the display controller on the system board. Insert the Diagnostics disk into the computer’s
floppy disk drive, turn on the computer, and run the test. Refer to
Chapter 3

If an error is detected, go to Procedure 3. If an error is not detected, the display is functioning
properly.
Procedure 3
Connector Check
The Display unit has an LCD module, FL, display switch, and FL inverter board. The FL and
FL inverter board are connected by two cables, and the LCD module and system board are
connected by one signal cable as shown in Figure 2-3. Any of these cables may be discon-
nected.
Disassemble the display unit and check the cable connections shown in Figure 2-3. Refer to
