4.24 Microphone
Removing the Microphone
To remove the microphone, follow the steps below and refer to Figure 4-47.
1.
Turn off the power to the computer, then disconnect the AC adapter and all
external cables connected to the computer.
2.
Remove the battery pack, optional memory module, optional PCMCIA card, FDD
or optional CD-ROM drive, HDD, upper cover and keyboard, speakers, keyboard
base and display assembly, and display mask as described in Sections 4.2 through
4.9 and 4.17.
3.
Disconnect the
microphone cable
from
PJ4
on the IPS board and lift out the
microphone
.

Installing the Microphone
To install the microphone, follow the steps below and refer to Figure 4-47.
1.
Connect the
microphone cable
to
PJ4
on the IPS board, route the cable through
the mylar insulator, and seat the
microphone
.
2.
Install the display mask, speakers, keyboard base and display assembly, upper
cover and keyboard, HDD, optional CD-ROM drive or FDD, optional PCMCIA
card, optional memory module, and battery pack as described in Sections 4.17, and
4.9 back through 4.2.
