Removal (Fig. 55 and 56)
1.
Before removing any parts from the hydraulic sys-
tem, park machine on a level surface, engage parking
brake, lower cutting units, and stop engine.
CAUTION
Operate all hydraulic controls to relieve sys-
tem pressure and avoid injury from pressur-
ized hydraulic oil. Controls must be oper-
ated with the ignition switch in RUN and the
engine OFF. Return ignition switch to OFF
when pressure has been relieved. Remove
key from the ignition switch.
2.
Remove reel motor from the cutting unit (see Cut-
ting Unit Removal and Installation in Chapter 7– Cutting
Units).
3.
Clean reel motor, hydraulic fittings, and hose con-
nections.
Note: The position of hydraulic fittings on the reel mo-
tor is critical to properly reconnecting hydraulic hoses.
4.
Label all hose connections for reassembly pur-
poses. Matchmark reel motor and all hydraulic fittings
for reassembly purposes.
5.
Remove hose connections from the hydraulic fit-
tings on the reel motor. Allow hydraulic oil to drain from
hoses into a suitable container. Put caps or plugs on
ends of hoses to prevent contamination.
6.
Remove hydraulic fittings and O–rings from the reel
motor. Put caps or plugs in motor openings to prevent
contamination.
Installation (Fig. 55 and 56)
1.
Make sure hydraulic fitting ports and O–ring sealing
surfaces on the reel motor are clean.
2.
Make sure hydraulic fittings are clean. Inspect
threads and sealing surfaces of fittings. Replace any
worn or damaged fittings.
