5. Reverse the tractor carefully over the front
units until the lower lifting links are in line with
the hitch pins (A fig. 20) on the mower frame.
Connect the ball joints of the lower lift arms to
the
hitch points and secure with cotter pins.
Next attach the top link to the top hitch on the
frame (B fig. 20).
NOTE: Setting the top link to the required length at this
stage is not important (see page 21).
6. Linkage setting
(a) Ford 333, 335 & 391OH:
Check to see that the control valve (A fig. 21) is
pushed fully in to supply a flow of oil to the
lifting arms of the tractor. Put the flow control
lever (A fig. 22) to the slow position (S).
(b) MF20D and MF 245:
Check to see that the hydraulic selector valve
is set at the “Linkage” position (see A fig. 23)
and the flow control lever is set to the slow
position (See fig. 34, page 27).
7. Carefully inch up the mower frame until the
stabilizers line up with the holes in the attach-
ment lugs on the tractor.
8. Fit either the special bolt, nut and spring pin
(B and C fig. 24) for ford 333 or the special pin
and lip (B and C fig. 25) for MF 245 and MF
20D.
9. External Hydraulic setting.
(a) On Ford 333 tractors the control valve (ASC)
should now be pulled fully out and the draft and
positional control levers set in the raised
position of the quadrant (B and C fig. 26).
(b) On MF 245 and 20D tractors the selector valve
should be set in the “External” 2 setting and the
draft and positional levers set as shown in
fig. 27.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The stabiliser bars lock the tractor
linkage in a fixed position and the lift control of the
tractor MUST NOT be operated from now on.
10. Fitting the pump gearbox.
It will be necessary to lie underneath the mower
frame to raise the gearbox, which is hanging on
its supporting chains, into position. Carefully
slip the gearbox over the P.T.O. shaft and fit
