8.4 Installing the spring tensioning device and tensioning the wire
rope:
1. The first thing to do is to determine the length of the rope.
To do this, measure 25 cm up from the top of the bracket and
make a mark on the rope. Bend the rope at the mark and then
cut at 30 cm with the bolt cutter.
2. Now the lower end of the rope will be mounted.
To do this, pass the end of the rope through the
ring nut of the spring tensioning device and pull
it upwards. Insert the thimble into the rope loop.
Then the 2 screw clamps are screwed tightly onto
the wire rope. The saddle is on the live end of the
rope and the U-bolt is on the dead end of the rope.
Place the lower clamp snugly against the thimble
and tighten. Position the 2nd screw clamp 100 mm
above it and screw it tight (use lubricant!). Wrap the
cut end of the rope with tape to cover loose wires.
3. Next, the spring tensioning device is tensioned on the
bracket of the lower ladder attachment.
To do this, guide the threaded rod of the spring tension-
ing device through the hole in the bracket. Then imme-
diately screw in the system sign from below with the
threaded rod. The hexagon nut is then used to tension
the wire rope system (use lubricant!).
4. Tensions the system until 100 kg of preload is
reached. To do this, tighten the lower M12 nut until the
indicator plate under the spring has reached the notch
on the bracket! The second nut is then screwed on and
countered against the other nut.
