Test the Engine Idle Select
A properly operating engine idle select switch
is essential to good engine performance and safe
machine operation. There are three settings.
Low idle (turtle symbol): Low idle and slow battery
charging.
High idle (rabbit symbol): High idle and quickest
battery charging.
Foot switch activated high idle (rabbit and foot
switch symbols): Activates high idle only when the
foot switch is pressed down.
1 Start the engine from the ground controls. Move
the engine idle select toggle switch to high idle
(rabbit symbol).
Result: The engine should change to high idle.
2 Release the engine idle select toggle switch.
Result: The engine should return to low idle.
3 Turn the key switch to platform controls.
4 At the platform controls, move the engine idle
select toggle switch to high idle (rabbit symbol).
Result: The engine should change to high idle.
5 Move the engine idle select toggle switch to low
idle (turtle symbol).
Result: The engine should change to low idle.

6 Move the engine idle select toggle switch to foot
switch activated high idle (rabbit and foot switch
symbol).
Result: The engine should not change to
high idle.
7 Press down the foot switch.
Result: The engine should change to high idle.
