Heating Elements
On an electric grill, there are five thermocouples for each
cook zone. During the Idle, Cook, or Standby modes, the
temperature for each zone is checked at 1-second
intervals. If the temperature falls 2° below the set point,
the heater for that zone will be turned on until the
temperature is 2° above the set point, and then the
heater will turn off.
L828 Lower Heater Removal and
Replacement Instructions
Replacement parts:
X87992-20S KIT A.-LOWER HEATER *L828*
X87992-23S KIT A.-LOWER HEATER *L828*
X87992-26S KIT A.-LOWER HEATER *L828*
Note:
When replacing any of the lower heaters in the
L828 prior to serial number M8107143, the entire
machine will need to be returned to the distributorship in
order to complete the repair.
Note:
The lower plate assembly cannot be removed
from the grill without cutting the welds at the bullnose and
the backsplash. Therefore this procedure must be
performed on the machine. The flowing illustrations are
for clarity of the parts that need modification.
1. Remove the necessary right-side exterior panels and
the lower heater cover assembly.
2. Once the lower heater cover is removed, the shroud
will need to be cut/notched back approximately
1/2 in. to 5/8 in. at two places, as shown by the dotted
lines (on the right side when looking at the grill from
the front). This will allow removal of either outside
heater.
Note:
Before beginning the cutting/notching
process, cover all electronics to prevent metal debris
from getting into the controls. Also, after completing
the removal of the sheet metal, make sure to remove
all sharp edges.
