3.6.3.2. SLR60/75/100/140 and SLR50 VU 2000 Head (see NOTE)
Head type
Thin-film inductive write/magneto resistive (MR) read.
6-channel read-after-write configuration.
4 read/write ch 1 servo channel are used for serpentine recording of the ALRF-1
and ALRF-6 formats.
2 read/write ch 1 servo channel are used for serpentine recording of backward
compatible formats.
Write head width
31.5 µm ±2 µm
Read head width
18 µm ±1 µm
Head Life Time
10 000 run hours (native media).
5 000 run hours [Backward compatible (BC) media].
CAUTION!
Insertion of the media types DC-600A, DC-6150, DC-6250, DC-6320 or DC-6525 must be avoided
as it may damage the head. These media types are intended for ferrite and metal heads, and
not for use with thin-film heads.
3.6.3.3. SLR7 Head
Head type
Thin-film inductive write/magneto resistive (MR) read.
2-channel read-after-write configuration.
Write head width
96.0 µm ±2 µm
Read head width
22 µm ±1 µm
Head Life Time
10 000 run hours (SLR7 media).
5 000 run hours (BC media).
Insertion of the media types DC-600A, DC-6150, DC-6250, DC-6320 or DC-6525 must be
avoided as it may damage the head.
IMPORTANT!
The head life time specifications stated by Tandberg Data ASA assume running tapes in an
environment with an average relative humidity of minimum 40 % and maximum of not more
than 65 % within a temperature range of +15ºC to +25ºC.
Relative humidities up to 80 % are assumed only for a maximum of 1 hour for every 24 hours
of tape running. Maximum relative humidity of the environments shall not be more than 50 %
averaged over the life cycle test, and never more than 65 % averaged over 200 running hours.
Relative humidities of less than 40 % are assumed only for a maximum of 1 hour for every 24
hours tape running.
The Head Life Time specifications assume that tapes are replaced for at least every 10 000
passes.
The Head Life Time specifications assume streaming operation.
The Head Life Time specifications given for this product are not valid if the Drive has been
used in environments - or with tapes - that cannot meet the specifications above.
Using backwards compatible media may reduce head life time.
Tandberg Data ASA does not warrant against failure of any tape drive product that has directly
or indirectly been exposed to conditions outside the specifications given above.
VU 2000
NOTE: VU 2000 consists of the 6-channel head as for SLR60/75/ 100/140, and the
Mainboard supporting this head. Implemented in SLR50 end June 2000.
