INSPECTING THE HUB GEAR OIL
• Stop the engine and allow each part of
the machine to cool down before
performing maintenance.
· The hubs are hot immediately after the
engine is stopped. Touching them will
cause burns.
· The gear oil is also hot and under high
pressure immediately after the engine
is stopped.
Be careful not to touch the oil when
loosening the plugs. Working on the
machine under these conditions could
result in burns or injuries.
• The pressure in the reduction gear case
of hubs may cause oil or the plug to fly
out. Loosen the plug slowly to release
the pressure.
1. Park the machine on a level surface and
stop the engine.
2. Set the hub so that the plug (1) is in a level
position.
3. Remove the plug (1).
4. If oil is left on your finger when it is inserted
through the hole, the oil level is proper.
5. If the level is too low, add oil through the
hole of the plug (1) until the oil flows from
the hole.
6. Install the plug (1) and tighten it.
