11 Customizing your radio

This section describes the ways in which you can
customize your radio.

About display and keypad

backlighting

Whenever a key is pressed or a call is received, the
keypad and display light up automatically to make it
easy to read in poor light conditions.

Backlighting usually remains on for a few seconds,
unless further radio activity is detected. The period of
time that the backlighting remains on once no further
radio activity is detected is determined by the
backlighting timer. The duration of this timer is set
when the radio is programmed.

The radio’s display can also be made darker or lighter
to suit your working conditions. See

“Adjusting the

display contrast” on page 110
