5. Park the motorcycle on a firm, flat
surface where it will not fall over.
NOTE: If the motorcycle is to be
parked on the side stand on a slight
slope, the front end of the motorcycle
should face “up” the incline to avoid
rolling forward off the side stand. You
may leave the motorcycle in 1st gear
to help prevent it from rolling off the
side stand. Shift to neutral before
starting the engine.
6. Turn the ignition key to the “OFF”
position.
7. Turn the handlebars all the way to
the left and lock the steering for
security.
8. Remove the ignition key.
NOTE: If an optional anti-theft lock
such as a U-shape lock, brake disk
lock or chain is used to avoid theft, be
sure to remove the anti-theft lock
before moving the motorcycle.
CAUTION
A hot muffler can cause severe
burns. The muffler will be hot
enough to cause burns for some
time after stopping the engine.
Park the motorcycle where pedes-
trians or children are not likely to
touch the muffler.
