DRIVE CHAIN
This motorcycle has an endless drive
chain constructed from special mate-
rials. It does not use a master link. We
recommend that you take your motor-
cycle to an authorized Suzuki dealer
or a qualified mechanic if the drive
chain needs to be replaced.
The condition and adjustment of the
drive chain should be checked each
day before you ride. Always follow the
guidelines for inspecting and servic-
ing the chain.
Inspecting the Drive Chain
When inspecting the chain, look for
the following:
•
Loose pins
•
Damaged rollers
•
Dry or rusted links
•
Kinked or binding links
•
Excessive wear
•
Improper chain adjustment
If you find anything wrong with the
drive chain condition or adjustment,
correct the problem if you know how.
If necessary, consult your authorized
Suzuki dealer or a qualified
mechanic.
Damage to the drive chain means
that the sprockets may also be dam-
aged. Inspect the sprockets for the
following:
•
Excessively worn teeth
•
Broken or damaged teeth
•
Loose sprocket mounting nuts
If you find any of these problems with
your sprocket, consult your Suzuki
dealer or a qualified mechanic.
Good
Worn
NOTE: The two sprockets should be
inspected for wear when a new chain
is installed and replace them if neces-
sary.
WARNING
Riding with the chain in poor con-
dition or improperly adjusted can
lead to an accident.
Inspect, adjust, and maintain the
chain properly before each ride,
according to the instructions in
this section.
