Use this TIP to troubleshoot AC power problems.
WARNING:
Make sure you follow the procedures in
Problem
Conditions That Could Cause This Problem
The PDU breaker trips.
•
Defective AC PDU
•
Defective power cable
•
Incorrect power source
•
Defective tape drive
1. Open the rear door.
2. Is the power cord seated properly?
Yes:
No:
Reseat the power cord.
3. Power off all the tape drives.
4. Lift the PDU breaker.
Does it trip?
Yes:
Go to step
.
No:
Power on drives, one at a time, to see
which drive causes the breaker to trip.
Replace the defective drive. Go to
5000: Tape Drives” on page 3-13
5. Disconnect the power cable from the
customer receptacle. At the male pins
on the power connector, use a volt/
ohmmeter (set to
ohms
) to check
between the following male pins on
the power cable:
•
1 phase pin to GND = open
•
2nd phase pin to GND = open
•
1 phase to 2nd phase = <1 M

GND pin to frame = short
