Check the drive type to be sure it
matches the system requirements.
This can be checked in the
Lib Config
menu and the
Lib SCSI I/F Config
menu
on the operator panel.
No:
7. At the operator panel, consult the
drive’s status (see list on

Not connected?
Yes:
The drive’s Tape Transport Interface
(TTI) connector is not firmly connected
or the AC switch may be off.

8. Check the host-to-drive cable
connection at the library bulkhead
(SCSI) or fiber component
and
at the
drive.
Is the cable the correct type and the
connection good?
Yes:
No:
If the cable is:
•
Incorrect type—schedule time to replace
cable.
•
Incorrectly connected or the connector is
damaged—schedule time to replace the
cable.
9. If possible, obtain the tape that was
mounted on the drive at the time of
the error.
Have the operator make another
drive offline and use a system
diagnostic test with this tape on that
drive.
Was an error encountered?
Yes:
Have the operator remove the tape from
the system pool.
No:
