8.3.7 Administrate configuration
8.3.7.1 Load configuration
Configuration data can here be loaded from a USB connected data
medium. Between configuration, parameter and designer data can
thereby be selected.
Parameter means device settings which can be changed during
normal plant operation.
They differ from configuration settings which can be changed only
during device configuration, which means typically during project
planning and start-up of a plant.
Typical parameter settings are PID parameters of control zones pin
settings for the set value graph, or tolerances and limit values if
they are set changeable during operation.
The parameters are stored in the battery backed RAM in order that they remain available after power failure.
Additional to this parameters are stored as explicit files on the flash disk in case of special situations, e.g. if the configuration
is stored on an USB for backup purposes.
In this way the before mentioned device settings can be transferred problem-free to another device.
The device parameters are likewise saved during a software update as files because in some cases it might be that the
parameters from the battery backed RAM cannot be restored, e.g. if the memory layout had changed.
8.3.7.2 Save configuration
Configuration data can here be saved from an USB
connected data medium. Thereby a file named
“CONFIG.ZIP” with all configuration, parameter and
designer data is created on the data medium.
For configuration identification a description text (24
characters) can be entered for data backup.
It is currently not possible to change the file name, the
comment as well as the directory for storage on the data
medium.
NOTE
It must be pointed out that a possibly available older configuration file is overwritten. No security query or warning
takes place.
