4-8. Flare Adjustment
Equipment : Waveform monitor
Test Point : TEST OUT connector
Object : Grayscale chart
Preparations:
.
Connect the waveform monitor to the TEST OUT
connector.
.
Shoot the grayscale chart so that the chart frame is
aligned with the underscanned monitor frame.

RGB/ENC switch (on the side panel)
→
ENC
. Set the DISP switch (on the side panel) from OFF to
MENU while holding down the MENU SEL switch (on
the front panel). Set the menu as follows.
MENU : Paint
PAGE : W.Clip/Knee (P6)
ITEM : Knee

Iris of the lens
: A = 100
±
2 IRE (for NTSC)
A = 700
±
14 mV (for PAL)

Adjustment Procedures:
1. Adjust the auto white balance.
WHITE BAL switch (on the side panel)

AUTO W/B BAL switch (on the front panel)
→
WHT
2. Open the iris control of the lens by two stops against
the reference setup (corresponding above A).
3. Set the RGB/ENC switch (on the side panel) to ENC.
Set the R/G/B switch (on the side panel) to G.
4. Select the 15 lines in the center of the monitor screen
by using the 15 LINESELECT on the waveform
monitor.
5. Confirm that the level at portion B does not fluctuate
even if the flare turns On/Off. If fluctuates, turn Flare
On and adjust by Flare (G).

6. Set the ENC/RGB switch (on the side panel) to ENC.
7. Set the menu as follows, and adjust the flare for R by
using the MENU SEL switch.
MENU : Paint
PAGE : Video Level (P1)
ITEM : Flare [R]
Specifications
: Minimize the carrier leakage.
8. Set the menu as follows, and adjust the flare for B by
using the MENU SEL switch.
MENU : Paint
PAGE : Video Level (P1)
ITEM : Flare [B]
Specifications : Minimize the carrier leakage.

9. Repeat the steps 7 and 8 alternately, until the carrier
leakage is minimized.
File Store:
Execute the file store. Press the MENU SEL switch twice
to execute.
