The web pages
Introduction
This chapter describes the web management interface for the
optiPoint 300 basic, which allows the administrator to install and
configure IP-phone telephony devices.
On the web pages banner, you will find the product name "HiNet
LP 2100". The current release of the web pages doesn’t show the
product name "HiPath optiPoint 300 basic", nevertheless it works
properly with optiPoint 300 basic.
Authentication
The optiPoint 300 basic will adopt the HiPath Xpress Comserve
2.1 authentication scheme. To summarise, the scheme uses a
'credential' cookie to record information about the client (user
name, authorisation level, credential expiry time). When a client
attempts to access a protected page the web server will check for
the presence of the cookie. If it is not present, the client will be re-
directed to the login page. If it is present, the web server commu-
nicates with a HiPath authentication server to check the creden-
tial. If the credential does not give the necessary authorisation for
the requested resource the client will be redirected to the login
page. The reason for the credential mechanism is that it potentially
saves the client having to re-logon at each managed entity visited.
If the location of the central authentication server is not known or
access to it fails, then the client will be able to log-on locally.
Browser compatibility
The optiPoint 300 basic web content will be compatible with:
– Internet Explorer version 4.0 and later
– Netscape Navigator version 4.5 and later
The web content will make no provision for browsers that do not
support frames.
Navigation
The site will be organised in a hierarchical fashion. Links to the
home page and to each main section (just "Administration" at
present) will appear in a banner frame which is intended to be
present within a frameset at all times. However, it is always possi-
ble that clients will bookmark a content page and later return to it
There will be no links to the login page. The client will
be redirected there as necessary.
