Connecting using ActiveSync
With Microsoft ActiveSync, you can exchange data between a host computer
(Windows 95/98/2000/NT) and your MOBIC (Windows CE).
Examples of Possible Applications
S
Synchronizing data on your MOBIC and the host computer to make the latest
information available on both devices.
S
Backup and restore
S
Installing and uninstalling programs on your MOBIC
S
Copying files between your MOBIC and the host computer. During transfer,
certain data is converted immediately to a Windows CE format (for example
.doc - > .pwd).
To be able to connect your MOBIC to the host, you must first install Microsoft
ActiveSync on your host computer. Microsoft ActiveSync is on the MOBIC CD.
Specifying the Partner Relationship
In the partnership between your MOBIC and the host computer, you can keep the
data up to date on both computers by synchronizing. If you modify the data on one
computer, this modification is automatically made to the data on the other
computer the next time you synchronize. This means that the data is always up to
date regardless of which computer is used for display.
Specifying a partnership is also a requirement for establishing an ActiveSync
connection via Ethernet (see below).
