7.1 Status polling with the detector exchanger and
tester
All point detectors are equipped with the MC link (Maintenance and Commissioning
Link).
Using this interface, it is possible to read out data from the device in a proximity
method over short distances with the detector exchanger and tester FDUD292 or
the intelligent detector tester FDUD293.
You will find more information in documents 007227 and 009718.
Depending on the authorization level of the user and the control panel type, the
following actions can be performed:
Device test
– Deviation/No deviation
– Detailed status request
1
Activation of a test alarm
Reading out the identification number, customer text and measure text
1
Localization and parameter setting of the detector (parameter setting not in
FDnet mode)

Actions cannot be carried out using the intelligent detector tester FDUD293.
7.2 Performance check
The selftest automatically subjects the detectors to an extensive electrical
performance check. Regular performance checks of the detectors are required
nonetheless. This may be done with the detector exchanger and tester, test gases
or by the hot air fan.
Recommendation:
Subject all detectors to an annual visual check. Detectors that are heavily
soiled or mechanically damaged must be replaced.
The CO sensor used in the FDOOTC241 has a maximum service life of
5 years. When CO-supported parameter sets are activated, a critical warning is
triggered once this period has lapsed.
It can continue to be used as an FDOOT fire detector depending on the fire
control panel following reconfiguration to non-CO-supported parameter sets
until the recommended replacement interval of 6 to 8 years is reached.
