Explosion protection in accordance with ATEX
This Section contains information on operating the GM32 Ex in Ex zones.
•
GM32 corresponds to the following categories in accordance with
ATEX 2014/34/EU:
–
ATEX II 2G Ex px [op is] IIC T3 Gb or
–
ATEX II 3G Ex pz [op is] IIC T3 Gc
•
Observe the Ex identification.
The Ex identification is on the type plate. Example:
SICK
GM32-xxx-EX2G (xxx=internal type number)
SN: yyyy yyyyy (serial number)
II 2G
Ex px [op is] IIC T3 Gb
BVS 12 ATEX E 146 X/ 147 X
-20 °C ≤ Ta ≤ 55 °C

Location of Ex relevant subassemblies, see Chapter "Design
and Function".

Do not remove, add or modify any components to or on the
device unless described and specified in the official manufac‐
turer information. Otherwise the approval for use in potentially
explosive atmospheres becomes void.

Adhere to the maintenance intervals, see Chapter "Mainte‐
nance plan".

After switching off the main power supply: Wait 20 minutes
before opening the enclosure.

Character "X" following the certificate number indicates the
following special condition for the safe application of the
device in the Annex to the EC Type Examination Certificate
BVS 12 ATEX E 146 X/ 147 X: A measuring function for explo‐
sion protection is not part of the EC type approval.
