The bus is terminated by an active terminator at the beginning and end of each
segment. The two terminal resistors also have to be supplied with an auxiliary voltage
to ensure fault-free operation. The external terminator (part number 6021156) is con‐
nected to the Bus OUT connection on the distance sensor.
For more than 32 users, repeaters (power amplifiers) have to be used to connect the
individual bus segments.
The maximum line length depends on the data transmission rates. The device supports
the following data transmission rates.
Baud rate [Bit/s]
9.6k
19.2k
45.45k
93.75k

The use of repeaters means longer lines than in the table are possible. A maximum of 3
repeaters should be connected in series.
The device supports the “Auto Baud Detection” function. With this function, the device
is set to the baud rate specified by the PROFIBUS DP master.
3.7.4.2
Configure device via a configuration program
The device is mounted and electrically connected,
"Electrical installation", page 50
.
The maximum length of the GSD parameter is limited to 235 bytes. Depending on the
selection and number of planned GSD modules, this limit can be exceeded. This is
displayed as an error message in the planning tool. In this case, the number of selected
GSD modules must be reduced.
1.
Copy the GSD file to the GSD directory of the configuration program.
2.
Update hardware catalog.
3.
Select device in the hardware catalog: PROFIBUS-DP > Additional field devices >
Encoder > DT1000/DL1000.
4.
Integrate the device in the DP master system.
5.
Set the PROFIBUS address according to the address set in the device. The device
address “006” is set by default.
6.
Select the desired GSD modules, e.g., the module “1 - Distance / i2w”.
7.
Enter the PLC input and output address in the PLC tool.
8.
Perform configuration,
see "Device master file (GSD)", page 28
cyclical data transmission", page 28
.
9.
If necessary, perform parameterization in the GSD module. For example, in the
module “1-Dist / 2w”, select the resolution of the distance value.
3.7.4.3
Setting the PROFIBUS address
Each PROFIBUS subscriber has to have a unique address for the sake of communica‐
tion.
The default address “6” can be used for functional testing of the device as well as for
connection to an operating PROFIBUS network. You can then change this address to
include more devices.
You can change the PROFIBUS address on the device,
, or via the SOPAS ET interface.
