The optical properties page is asking about the opacity (color) of the coating, and if the coating is
clear/gold and there is a base coat underneath, what is the opacity (color) of the base coat.
•
Coating Color
– There are five choices {Clear, Gold, White, Pigmented, Metallic}. Choose the
most appropriate one for the primary layer being measured. If none of these are applicable for
the specific coating, the closest option should be chosen.
Clear Top Coat Group box

This is a Top Coat
– This is asking if the layer being defined is a top coat being applied over the
top of another layer of coating (for example base coat). If “Yes,” then put a check mark in this
box and proceed to answer the ‘Base Opacity.’

Base Opacity
- There are five choices {Clear, Gold, White, Pigmented, Metallic}. Choose the
most appropriate one for the Base coat underneath the measured layer.
