Span Accuracy
Checking the Span Accuracy
Note:
You must use certified calibrated or verified weights to check the span accu-
racy.
It must be established that the weights are traceable to a national standard.
The calibration or verification certificate must indicate the nominal mass value,
the deviation from the nominal value, and the uncertainty of measurement.
The exact value (
conventional mass value
) for each weight is calculated from
the nominal value and the deviation from the nominal value.
These requirements do not apply if the accuracy of the weight used for check-
ing the span accuracy is at least one digit greater than the display accuracy.
– See (page 48) the “Service Specifications Sheets for Master
pro
Balances”
for the required test weight.
– Unload the balance and press
t
to tare
– Perform internal span adjustment (LP see page 14) / (LA see page 24) .
– After performing span adjustment, center the test weight on the weighing
pan.
– Read off the weight at stability and compare it to the tolerance limits listed.
– If the resulting value exceeds the tolerance limits, you need to perform ex-
ternal span adjustment and then overwrite the internal calibration weight
(LP see page 15 / LA see page 25, “Overwriting the Internal Calibration
Weight”).
