Capturing images using the viewfinder
Compose the desired image by looking into the viewfinder. Compared to capturing images using
the LCD monitor, this method saves the battery power.
1
Set the main switch to “MONITOR OFF”. Press the
power button to turn on the camera.
œ
Set the selector dial to anything other than
P
or
Ü
.
œ
When the stand-by indicator lights in green, you are
ready to capture the image.
œ
No image appears on the LCD monitor.
œ
Set the focus to
c
when the photographic subject is
close to the camera (10 to 50 cm) (see page 72).
2
Point the camera lens at the subject.
3
Look straight into the viewfinder and center the subject
in the autofocus area.
4
Slowly press and hold the shutter release button halfway (focus-lock).
œ
The autofocus function locks the focus on the subject.
œ
If “ALL” or “SHUTTER” is selected as the operational sound setting (see
page 125), then the digital camera will beep twice when the subject is in focus.
5
Finish pressing the shutter release button all the way.
œ
The image is captured.
œ
If “ALL” or “SHUTTER” is selected as the operational sound setting (see
page 125), then the digital camera will beep once when the image is captured.
œ
The stand-by indicator will flash red while the image is being written to the memory.
Another image can only be captured when the stand-by indicator lights green again.
NOTE
œ
Although nickel metal hydride batteries are recommended, you may use alkaline batteries and
capture images using the viewfinder.
œ
If an operational sound setting is set, then two quick beeps are heard when the shutter release
button is pressed fast. (No beep is heard when the shutter closes.)
