1-6-3 Special Options
Once you have performed all of the setup steps shown on pages 2 through 11, your SF 2200 is ready to
use for most typical applications.
Special User Options of your SF 2200 can be set or changed through the Control Panel. These potions
include setting up your SF 2200 to share a phone line with an answering machine, changing the number
of rings the SF 2200 will wait before answering, and more.
To change potions, or to find out how your options are set now, see page 24.
1-6-4 Tones and Alarms
Your SF 2200 produces a variety of sounds to assist you in its proper operation:
• A short “ beep” sounds when you press a key.
• A one-second “beep” sounds to let you know that a sending or receiving operation is done.
• “Beep beep beep” sounds if you enter too many digits during a Control Panel procedure.
• Two-second or five-second tones indicate an error condition and are accompanied by an Err o r
Message in the Window.
• A “warbling” tone means that the remote fax operator is making a voice request (see “Making or
Taking voice Requests”at right).
1-6-5 Using the Telephone.
The built-in handset makes the SF 2200 double as a standard telephone. Use it as you would use any
other telephone. To place a call, pick up the handset and use the Key Pad, a One-Touch key, or a Speed
Dial number.
1-6-6 Adjusting the Speaker Volume
The VOL switch controls the loudness of the dialing tones you hear through the speaker when you dial
with the handset down. You can set the volume to low ( all the way to the right), medium (center), or
high (all the way to the left).
1-6-7 Making or Taking Voice Requests
You can respond to a voice request from the operator at the at other fax machine, or make a voice
request yourself. When the remote operation wants to talk to you, the SF 2200 will make a warbling
sound.

Your SF 2200 produces a variety of reports about your faxing activity and your settings for One-Touch
