Design SINGLE must by selected as the first step in configuration process on both IDUs. The IP
configuration is identical with setting in chapter Example 1 – In-Band management separated by VLAN
on page 99.
Figure 91: Example 4 – Selection of design SINGLE at LOCATION 1
Then most important step of this configuration example is the proper VLAN setting. Add all VTU
records at the first, then change Port Modes and Port Groups. Trunk ports accept only such tagged
frames which are contained in VTU table and untagged frames which are internally assigned by default
VLAN ID valid for this port, access ports accept untagged frames only which are again internally
assigned by default VLAN ID valid for this port. Switching rules for Trunk and Access ports are limited
by Port Group rules and by VTU records rules together. Ports in basic mode doesn't support any VTU
records but just Port Group rules limit frame switching.
All VLAN changes should be applied together by pressing APPLY button. Such change must be
confirmed at the intermediate window by pressing Continue button (the remote access to IDU must
be ensured with similar VLAN configuration in your network otherwise previous VLAN configuration
will be returned after 120 seconds).
Then configure the basic port parameters like Ethernet channel speed and LAN port modes.
The similar configuration must be dome also on customer side IDU. The VTU records in IDU 2 ensure
that different LAN ports and internal MNG port are assigned with just one VLAN, therefore whole data
traffic is divided into more separate ETH traffics.
