11.4 Starting from automatic operation:
Once self-optimization has started the steady-state

procedure for finding the characteristic value is performed. The set value can be altered at any time, during
which the gradient function for adjusting the set value is inactive .

11.5 Starting from manual operation.
The self optimization can be started from manual operation only if the controller
is operated from the front or the interface.
On moving into manual operation, the most recently displayed manipulated variable is taken over as
the manual manipulated variable. When self-optimization starts this manipulated value is adopted and displayed as the temporary
steady-state manipulated variable. Once PiR is reached the procedure for finding the characteristic value
starts. A prerequisite for starting optimization is a sufficient set value reserve ."Process idling"
(PiR) may already be reached at the start, in which case the normal waiting period of
60s no longer applies. As in automatic operation, the set value can be adjusted at any time.

When self-optimization has been successfully concluded, automatic operation starts up
automatically. The characteristics of the controlled system are reserved as Tu1,Vmax1. On the basis of
these characteristics the parameters for the control response of the controller are established.

If self-optimization ends with an error (

), the steady-state manipulated variable will be displayed until
the self-optimization procedure is terminated by the user, using the system menu, the
