11 Adjusting the controller to the controlled system
11.1 Self optimization
For determining the optimum parameters for a process a self-optimization procedure can be undertaken.
Self-optimization may be started and ended automatically or manually using the system menu.
In addition, the self-optimization process can be terminated at any time with the manual/automatic key
H
on the
front of the controller. If a programmer has been configured self-optimization cannot be carried out.
Preparations for self-optimization:
•
The control mode, PI, PD or P can be selected by the user by switching off
Tn = 0 or Tv = 0 before starting self-optimization.
•
Select the set of parameters to be optimized (
POpt
).
•
Select the settling manipulated variable (
YOptm
).
•
Select the manipulated variable interval (
dYopt
).
•
Set value reserve (x-w) > 10% of set value adjustment range (W0...W100)
11.2 ‘Process idling’ monitoring ( PiR ):
The ‘Process idling’ monitoring can occur at
any time. The process is idling if the
control output is in a range of tolerance of
±
!
= 0.5%
for 60 seconds. If the current value moves outside
this range of tolerance, the monitoring timer
returns to zero. If, for example, PiR is recorded during
normal operation and then when self-optimization starts
a steady-state Yoptm manipulated variable
which deviates significantly results, the full PiR time must be allowed to expire.
11.3 Set value reserve:
If self-optimization is to be at all possible, before the control output interval
is set the difference between the set and the current values must be greater than 10 % of W0...W100! The
set value reserve is reached either automatically by the reduction of the manipulated variable during the PiR phase
or by manually altering the set value or the current value (manual operation)
