Part 7 Troubleshooting
Error message
This print job cannot be completed because the ribbon of ink cartridge XXXX in holder 'X' was
broken.
Replace with a new ink cartridge.
Remedy
1
Check the ribbon in the ink-ribbon cartridge to make sure it is not slack.
If the ribbon in the ink-ribbon cartridge is slack, take up the slack.
Refer to "3.3 Installing Ink-ribbon Cartridges."

Make sure the type of ink-ribbon cartridges in use match the media type.
Go to "1.2 What You Can Do" and refer to Types of Ink and Media Used."
Error message
An ink cartridge is unsuitable or missing. Install a XXXXXXX ink cartridge.
Remedy

Make sure the indicated ink-ribbon cartridge is installed in a cartridge holder. If the ink-ribbon cartridge is not installed, install it with
side B facing up.
Also make sure that an ink-ribbon cartridge for a different model is not installed.
Refer to "3.3 Installing Ink-ribbon Cartridges."

If the indicated ink-ribbon cartridge is installed in a cartridge holder, then an HP sensor, the RE sensor or the indicator sensor may be
dirty.
Check for soiling and clean the HP sensors, RE sensor, and indicator sensor.
Go to "6.1 Cleaning" and refer to "Cleaning the HP Sensors, RE Sensor, and Indicator Sticker."
Error message
The printer is offline.
Remedy
This appears when the PC-12 is offline.

Make sure the power cord is securely inserted all the way into the power-cord connector on the PC-12. If it is not inserted, insert it
firmly as far as it will go, then switch on the power.

To check the status of the PC-12 again, click the [OK] button. To quit printing, click the [Cancel] button.
