10.2 Alarms sent to a telephone
All tone dialing telephones can work as alarm receiver. The keypad of the telephone is used
to control alarm reception and to acknowledge the alarm.
Note that phones, which are used for alarm reception, should be marked so that
all people are aware of the possibility of alarm calls. Likewise the special func-
tions, which exist for certain buttons on the phone, should be marked.
At an alarm situation it is not certain that a separate instruction is available. The most impor-
tant button to learn is 4 to acknowledge the alarm and set up the call.
An incoming alarm call from EC II GSM SE gives a tone chirp every 3
rd
second when the re-
ceiver is lifted. It is important that everybody is aware of the opportunity with alarm calls.
Note that all alarm receivers should practice the alarm handling procedure!
