USING THE CHARGER FOR THE FIRST TIME
Connect the crocodile clips to a 1 V lead-acid battery, or connect the mains plug to a
mains supply socket. Take great care over correct polarity (red = positive / black = neg-
ative). The screen initially displays “robbe DUO-POWER EQ-CHARGER”, followed by
“NO BATTERY”, if no battery is connected.
5.1
CONNECTING THE BATTERY
Important: before connecting a battery please check the set parameters carefully one last
time. Setting incorrect values can result in the battery being damaged, exploding, or
bursting into flames. To avoid short-circuits between the banana plugs, always connect
the charge lead to the charger sockets first, and only then to the battery; reverse the
sequence when disconnecting the battery. Take care to maintain correct polarity at all
times!
Equalizer socket:
You will find an arrow mark adjacent to the voltage sensor socket; the arrow indicates the
Earth (negative) terminal. The voltage sensor lead attached to the battery must be con-
nected to the charger with the black wire aligned with the arrow mark. Always maintain
correct polarity! (see page 31 for a wiring diagram). If you make up your own battery leads
or voltage sensor leads it is particularly important to check the polarity. When charging
Lithium batteries the voltage sensor lead should always be plugged in first - unless you
are charging a single cell.
when configuring the BID chip / key it is essential to enter
the correct battery parameters, otherwise you risk ruining the battery. If the pack is fit-
ted with a voltage sensor lead, for safety reasons this should always be connected.

wORKING DISPLAY
During a charge or discharge process this display keeps the user informed of all the
essential data. The top line shows the sta-
tus of the charger (‘C’ for Charge, ‘D’ for
Discharge, ‘N’ for No battery; ‘F’ for Finish).
The battery type can be determined from
the on-screen abbreviations: PB = Lead-
acid; NC = NiCd; NH = NiMH, LP = LiPo; LI
= LiIo and LF = LiFe. During a charge or
discharge process it is still possible to alter
the current in the main menu, or display
other parameters: press the “+” or “-” but-
ton to move to the main menu. The screen automatically reverts
to the working display five seconds after the last button-press.
