OPERATION
Read these instructions carefully before using the appliance.
Main functions and settings are listed below.
ATTENTION
: prior to use the boiler make sure that the heating system is properly filled with
water and that the pressure gauge on the front panel shows a value within the green sector
(0.5÷1.5 bar). Always fill the system using the water supply valve (bottom of the boiler -
page 11
)
NOTE
: when the boiler is electrically plugged-in, the de-aeration program is activated
automatically. The de-aeration program lasts
60-120
minutes and stops automatically: when
using the boiler for the first time - or when first used after a long off period - wait until the end of
the cycle to make sure that all the air has been purged. By pushing the “CH mode” button or the
“DHW mode” button on the remote controller the de-aeration program is skipped; be aware that
this can cause malfunction and/or damage the appliance. The reason for an unusual noise of the
boiler could be caused by air flowing in the pipes not purged in the correct way.
The boiler is provided together with the “standard” Rinnai remote controller and ready for the use. The “space
heating mode” is the default setting of the remote controller. The remote controller must be wired to the boiler to
be powered (the cable can be extended if the controller has to be installed far from the appliance).
The Rinnai condensing boiler can operate with its own remote controller only or together with any other room
thermostat (optional).
Thanks to the standard Rinnai remote controller the user can:
- switch the “CH mode” on/off and adjust the flow or the room temperature;
- switch the “DHW mode” on/off and adjust the hot water temperature;
- activate special functions (quick heating, DHW pre-heating, auto mode, etc.)

- check malfunctions and error codes;
- check “service” information

It is possible to select between two heating modes:
“space-heating” mode (
default setting
):
the Rinnai remote controller is provided with a sensor that
measures the temperature of the room constantly. The boiler
maintains the room warm at the temperature set on the remote
controller: when the room temperature is higher/lower than the set
value, the boiler capacity is adjusted accordingly or it is switched
off/on consequently.
Make sure to install the remote controller in an appropriate room.
“flow-heating” mode:
the Rinnai remote controller allows the user to select the flow
temperature of the water of the heating system. When the
detected temperature is higher/lower than the set value, the boiler
capacity is adjusted accordingly or it is switched off/on
consequently.

The default setting is “space-heating” mode.
To modify this choice and select the “flow-heating” mode hold both
the buttons and for 3 seconds.
Make sure that CH mode is off before doing this operation: the
display must be like the picture on the side.
