1.
Remove the packed liferaft in its valise/container from the vessel.
Caution:
Do not pull or jerk the painterline as this may cause operation of the
inflation system. Inadvertent activation of the inflation system may cause
personal injury or damage to raft components.
2.
Remove the liferaft from the valise/container as follows:
Container
Disconnect the taped painterline from the outside of the container. Carefully cut the container
straps, taking care to follow the safety precautions detailed. (See Fig.1)
SAFETY PROCEDURE FOR CUTTING TENSIONED STRAP
Warning: Wear eye, face, and hand protection.
A.
Keep work areas uncluttered and well lighted.
B.
Keep people at a safe distance.
C.
Stand to one side of the strap being cut and hold the strap against the package above the
cutter. (See Fig. 1)
Warning: Always cut strap between seal and holding strap.
Remove the top half of the container, dislodge the container plug, and locate the attachment
point of the painterline to the liferaft.
For Cruiser rafts, carefully untie the painterline and pass the end of the painterline back through
the inflation valve pull cable loop.
For Commander rafts, untie the painterline from the outside loop patch on the vacuum bag and
carefully untie the painterline from vacuum clip. After everything has been disconnected and
place it to the side.
