Dopant chamber
2. Gently tip the device, or using a pair of needle nose pliers, pull out the dopant tubes.
3. Inspect the substance level in the dopant tubes, and replace when empty. Order new dopants if there is
less than 1/8" (3 mm) of substance visible. Rapiscan Systems recommends always having spare dopants
on site.
CAUTION:
Dopant tubes must be disposed of in accordance with all local regulatory agency requirements.
Refer to all Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) before handling any material. Always observe
safe laboratory practices.
CAUTION:
Dopants MUST come to room temperature before installing in the dopant chamber. If the
dopants were fully depleted and once installed, allow 2 hours for new dopants to permeate into
the device before calibration or sampling.
CAUTION:
Place spare dopants in cold storage (in a freezer if possible) to extend their life. DO NOT store
dopants with foodstuffs.
4. Insert the dopant tubes into the chamber.
NOTE:
Make sure the dopants that may have been stored in the freezer have returned to room temperature
before installing in the chamber.
5. Clean the O-ring on the dopant chamber end cap with an alcohol swab.
6. Inspect the O-ring for damage, and replace if needed.
7. Reinstall the dopant chamber end cap so that the dopant chamber is fully sealed.
Replace the Membrane
The membrane is located on the detector nozzle. Replacing the membrane once per month is required, but it
should be cleaned and inspected for damage during weekly maintenance. A message displays reminding you to
replace the membrane.
CAUTION:
Do not use any metal or plastic tools or objects on the inner nozzle, and do not scratch the inner
nozzle.
