Test run with test load
The test load must be securely fastened and properly balanced.
1
Static and dynamic tests
The equipment is to be tested with dynamic tests with 110 % of the nominal load and static tests
with 125 % of the nominal load.
Make sure that the hook does not turn around while lifting.
2
Power supply measurements
Check that the voltage is over the required minimum value (normally -5 %) under 100 % load.
3
Brake operation
Check that the brake is able to stop the motion adequately. The braking distance is normal when
it is two links or less.
4
Motor current
3-phase hoists
Check the motor current at each phase during the hoisting motion with the rated capacity. The
current should be in balance in all phases, and it may not exceed the ratings for the motor.
Check the current with both hoisting speeds.
1-phase hoists
Check the motor current during the hoisting motion with the rated capacity. The current may not
exceed the ratings for the motor.
5
Running temperature
If the thermal protection halts the hoisting movement prematurely, identify the reason for the
overheating before continuing the commissioning tests.
6
Friction torque limiter
Check that the friction torque mechanism works correctly.
When the torque that is caused by the load (1) exceeds the designed hoisting limit (110 %
[EUR], 125 % [US, CH]), the friction torque limiter discs (2) should begin to slip, preventing the
upward hoisting movement.
Local regulations state the maximum values for the load that can be lifted. Follow the local
regulations. Maximum limit for the load that should not be lifted in any case is 1.6 x the nominal
load.
7
Traveling machinery (if equipped)
Check that the acceleration and braking motions operate smoothly. Run the trolley at l
east 3…5
times over the whole length of the girder.
