3. Any digits you enter from then on will be sent as tone dialing.
When this call ends, the phone automatically returns to pulse
dialing.

Seven-Digit Dialing
If you can make a local call by dialing only seven digits (instead
of ten), you can program your local area code into your phone.
If you get a call from within your area code, you will only see the
seven-digit phone number. If you get a call from outside your
area code, you will see all ten digits. To enter an area code:
1. Press the
MENU
soft key.
2. Select the GLOBAL SETUP menu, and then the AREA CODE
submenu.
3. Move the cursor to select or , and then press the
OK
soft key.
4. Use the number keypad (
0
–
9
) to enter a three-digit area
code. If an area code has already been stored, it will appear
in the display. Press the
DELETE
soft key to delete the stored
code, and then enter a new one.
5. Press the
OK
soft key. You will hear a confirmation tone.
Traveling Out of Range
During a call, if you move your handset too far from your base,
noise may increase. If you exceed the range limit of the base,
the handset will beep, display OUT OF RANGE, and then go to
standby. The base will maintain connection with your handset
up to 30 seconds. If you want to pick up the call again, move the
handset back within range of the base within 30 seconds, and
press
/FLASH
or
SPEAKER
