Such a replenished nitrate electrode will
then exhibit similar characteristics as a new
electrode.
After one or two years of evaporation and
diffusion, the amount of electrolyte solution
within the electrode (combination electrode)
can decrease. If the fluid level has lowered
more than 3 or 4 cm, the electrolyte solution
should be topped off with a KCI solution that
is saturated with 0.1 M of AgCl. For refilling,
the collar should be pushed down below the
refill hole. The electrolyte solution can then
be refilled using a syringe. The collar should
then be brought back up over the refill hole.
The nitrate electrode should be stored with
its dry protective cap on. If the electrode will
be used daily, it can be stored in the condi-
tioning solution that comes with the device.
The electrode can be maintained by occa-
sionally immersing it in its conditioning solu-
tion.
Additional device functions
- If you do not want the device to turn off auto-
matically (during long nitrate measurements
for example), then after the device has been
turned on you can press the CAL 1 and
CAL 2 buttons at the same time for several
seconds until “A 0” is shown in the display.
Repeat this step to switch the device back to
A1 mode (where it will automatically shut off
after ten minutes).
- Switch the device back to the factory default
settings: Simultaneously press the CAL1,
CAL2 and ON/OFF buttons for more than ten
seconds.
- Reset the electrode conductivity slope:
Simultaneously press the CAL1 and ON/OFF
buttons for more than five seconds.
- Displaying the correct mV value: Simulta-
neously press the CAL1 and ON/OFF buttons
for more than five seconds.
Note:
The Nitrat 2000 is equipped with a
battery voltage controller which checks the
battery status when the device is turned on.
Replace the battery if „LO BAT“ is shown
on the display. The device may make false
measurements if the battery is not replaced.
