Check wheel axle bearings looseness

Turning the wheel slowly in both
directions check that movement is smooth
and that the wheel rotates without
excessive resistance.

Turn the wheel so that it rotates very
quickly, check that the bearing does not
make any unusual sounds.
¨
Holding the wheel above and below, try to
feel any looseness.
Ö
You may use a lever placed under
the wheel supporting the other end
on the floor.
¨
Lower the lifting jack, relocate the chocks
to the other wheel and repeat the
inspection procedure for the other wheel.
¨

TIP
Damaged hub cover or lack of hub cover causes penetration of contamination
and dampness to hub, which causes significantly faster wear of bearing and
hub seals.
