VSky A Series Servers are available with two types of licenses for using the operating system and software:
•
A Trial License expires after a set period of time, after which the license must be
upgraded or renewed to continue using the VSky A Series Server. The data contained
on the storage systems are not affected or altered by the license type. It will be
necessary to activate another trial license (see below) or purchase a perpetual license
however to use the VSky A Series Server to access and manage the data.
•
A Perpetual License does not expire after the license is activated.
Both license types include keys for different services, including
Object Storage
,
NAS
, and
iSCSI SAN
. See the
description below for more details on the available licenses and service keys.

Three key types are available for the trial license:
•
Trial-1
key enables all three interfaces (
Object Storage
,
NAS
,
and
iSCSI
) for 90 days after license
activation.
• Trial-2
key enables all three interfaces for 60 days after activation; available after the Trial-1 license has
expired.
• Trial-3
key enables all three interfaces for 60 days after activation; available after the Trial-2 license has
expired.
Upon expiration of the Trial-3 license, all interfaces are disabled. The data contained on the VSky storage
systems are unaffected. In order to enable the interfaces, it is necessary to purchase a Perpetual License.
Prior to license expiration for all three trial license types, email notifications are snet to the email address of
record, and a dialog box appears when the administrator uses the VSky administration web GUI. These notices
are sent 30, 20, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 day before expiration.
