for magnetic permeability changes to detect a toner density decrease. When
a toner density lower than 11% is detected, the toner supply clutch (TSM)
turns ON and remains ON for 1 second so that the toner supply roller rotates
to supply the toner from the hopper to the agitation chamber.
The toner density monitoring interval is determined by the developer toner
density monitoring interval setup command from the controller. The interval
setting is expressed by the full dot count (the number of LED dots illuminated
between successive density detection operations) and is in the range from 0
through 250.
NOTE:
The toner density must be set when installing a new developing unit
or when changing the developer and toner within the unit. See
Chapter 4, “Troubleshooting.”
