Belt Tension adjustment
1. Remove the front and rear drive belt covers, see
"Belt Guard Cover Replacement" on
2. Prior to adjusting the drive belt tension, loosen the generator belt tension, see
tension adjustment" on page 36
a. Loosen the generator 4 mm hex key mounting/adjustment bolt enough to allow
the tension to be relaxed but still hold the generator in place. Loosen the gen-
erator belt tension enough to prevent over tensioning but not so much that the
belt will not stay installed on the generator pulleys. Keep monitoring the gen-
erator belt tension as you are making drive belt tension adjustments and make
minor generator belt tension adjustments if needed.
CAUTION
: Always loosen the generator belt tension prior to making a drive belt
tension adjustment and always verify the generator belt tension after adjusting the
drive belt tension. Moving the flywheel position will change the generator belt ten-
sion which could damage the belt, pulley hardware and/or generator function.
3. Remove all brake resistance by turning the resistance knob counter clockwise (-).
4. Loosen the left and right 17 mm axle nuts enough to allow flywheel axle movement.
Do not fully remove the axle nuts.
5. Place the belt tension gauge on the drive belt midway between the front and rear
sprockets. Position the tension gauge so that the center tension tab rests on the belt
tooth ridge and not in the gap between the teeth. Read and record the measured belt
tension.
a. If the measured tension is within the specification limits 70 - 76 lbs (31.8 - 34.5
kgs), remove the tension gauge and verify the belt tracking, go to
